WAYNE COUNTY HISTORICAL SOCIETY MUSEUM In the early 1950s a group of interested citizens formed the Wayne County Historical Society in order to preserve and display items of local interest. A successful fund drive helped build the museum and the display cases. The Historical Society has been supporting the display of these treasures since that time. The Society's members meet regularly through out the year for special programs that further appreciation local history. The public of all ages is invited to these meetings which are publicized in area media. In late 1996, the Phi Theta Kappa student honor society at Frontier College began a community service project with the Historical Society. These students began activities to revitalize the museum exhibits which had been virtually unchanged for many years. A special goal is to promote the rich store of history to area school children through programs and special tours. It is the hope of the society to become a permanent learning partner with the citizens of Wayne County. MUSEUM HOURS
